Rhythms Magazine are pleased premiere Zoe K’s first single, Wedding Ring, from her upcoming sophomore long player due for release in late 2016, perfectly sets the thematic foundations of the rest of the album. The contagiously upbeat track with its refreshing old school soul pop tendencies highlights Zoe K’s musical evolution after a jam-packed year recording between Australia and New Orleans, and breaks delightfully free the norms expected of women in our current social and popular musical climate.
Zoe K took the opportunity to record her remaining tracks at The Parlor Recording Studio in New Orleans, joined by a stellar rhythm section comprising Mike Bass (Trombone Shorty) and Terrence Houston (George Porter and the Funky Meters), and NYC guitarist Raja Kassis (Antibalas). Having met when the two were both invited to perform along side New Orleans Trumpeter and HBO Treme star Kermit Ruffins, Wedding Ring (Get It Off) also features the vocals of Nika Revader, New Orleans vocalist extraordinaire who has worked with many touring artists such as Stevie Wonder. The album was then mixed in New Orleans and mastered in Melbourne, Australia by Lachlan Carrick (Gotye, Jaala, Mojo Juju). With the full album due for release in September 2016. Zoe will then embark on a national Australian tour before returning to her second home in New Orleans to embark on more music collaborations.
