THE BAMBOOS NEW YEAR’S HOUSE PARTY AT THE BASEMENT

Australia’s premier soul & funk powerhouse have announced their first Sydney show in over a year and a half – and it’s a special one.

The Bamboos will be bringing in 2017 with their ‘New Year’s House Party’ at Sydney’s long standing home of soul and jazz, The Basement. All the furniture will need to be moved to the garage, as this house party will need extra room for dancing!

Making sure no one will want to hang in the kitchen, The Bamboos will be joined for a funk / soul / boogie throwdown by three of Sydney’s best soulful DJs: Frenzie, Meem and Paris Pompor.

This is the first time the band has played a headline show at this iconic venue since 2006, so expect this event to sell out well in advance. Only a block from the harbour to see Sydney’s always spectacular fireworks display, this promises to be an amazing and soul packed way to see in the new year. With a new Bamboos album planned for 2017, expect to hear a few brand new songs played live for the very first time.

So this year it’s time to skip the celery sticks and French Onion dip at that tired old NYE house party you always get invited to, and come down and to catch the best live soul act in the country, at The Bamboos New Year’s Eve House Party.

Founded in Melbourne in 2000 by bandleader, producer and main songwriter Lance Ferguson, this eight piece band have continually redefined Australian Soul music, receiving five ARIA Awards and three APRA Music Awards nominations over their seven studio albums along the way. Songs such as “I Got Burned” (feat. Tim Rogers), “On The Sly” (featured in the film ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’) and “Avenger” has built them a worldwide fanbase. Long regarded as one of Australia’s best live bands, regardless of genre, they have played at major festivals such as Splendour In The Grass, Meredith, Bluesfest, WOMADelaide, Falls Festival, and Homebake.

This show will be great end to a remarkable year for Lance Ferguson, with the guitar of bandleader Lance Ferguson providing the ear catching hook for one of the 2016’s biggest songs, “This Girl” by Kungs Vs. Cookin’ On 3 Burners, which of the course also featured the vocals of The Bamboos’ own Kylie Auldist. The remix by French producer Kungs of the 2009 was a multi platinum seller and hit #1 in seven countries around the world. In addition it was also nominated for ‘Song Of The Year’ at the 2016 ARIA Awards. The follow up remix, “Mind Made Up” by Lenno Vs Cookin’ On 3 Burners (also featuring Kylie’s vocals) is out now and looking set to be another smash. If that wasn’t enough, Ferguson’s third album as Lanu, ‘The Double Sunrise’, featuring guests Megan Washington and Melanie Pain (of Nouvelle Vague) was released at the start of the year and received critical acclaim.
