Bluesfest 2022 Full Opening Night Line-up Revealed

Last week Bluesfest announced THE CAT EMPIRE would play their final show after 20 years with the original lineup with their ‘Opening Night at Bluesfest 2022’ headline performance. It was also announced that warming up the audience for THE CAT EMPIRE would be TIJUANA CARTEL and CARAVANA SUN.

Bluesfest has now announced that their ‘Opening Night at Bluesfest 2022’ set for Thursday, April 14 next Easter Long Weekend just got a whole lot BIGGER, with some very special appearances and collaborations!

Starting with a special performance curated especially for Bluesfest, Australian legend JOE CAMILLERI – aka THE HONEYDRIPPER and handpicked Bluesfest favourites share their favourite Dylan songs celebrating the 80th birthday of Bob Dylan with special guest performers.

Bluesfest is also proud to present a complete ‘60s retro spectacular including Mike Rudd playing Indelible Murtceps and Spectrum classics including “I’ll Be Gone‘ and TAMAM SHUD’s “Lady Sunshine”“Too Many Life” and “Bali Shores”, plus “First Things” from the ‘Morning Of The Earth’ as well as much more music from their newer albums.

At the forefront of Australia’s psychedelic revolution was ELLIS D FOGG’s legendary lightshows – lighting up arts, performances, music, festivals with his ground-breaking lightshows and Bluesfest is thrilled to welcome ROGER FOLEY-FOGG to re-create these incredible visuals bringing his 60’S PSYCHEDELIC LIQUID LIGHTSHOW to the Bluesfest 2022 stage for SPECTRUM and TAMAM SHUD.

As well as that Bluesfest will present the sound of Marliya – a 16-strong choir of talented young Indigenous female singers from Far North Queensland and the Torres Strait, led by Lyn Williams, along with the music of Felix Riebl and Ollie McGill (THE CAT EMPIRE) and choreography by Deborah Brown in the magnificent SPINIFEX GUM,

As well as that, HENRY WAGONS together with his music director, LACHLAN BRYAN, have collaborated on a musical journey like no other and they will celebrate the song-writing genius of Warren Zevon, who gave us “Werewolves of London”“Lawyers, Guns & Money”“Carmelita” and “Poor Poor Pitiful Me”… as HENRY WAGONS and his band perform ZEVON – ACCIDENTALLY LIKE A MARTYR.

Keeping the Blues alive are the BLUES EMPRESS ALL-STARS – a sensational collaboration between some of the greatest vocalists and musicians around, including FIONA BOYES, KERRI SIMPSON, CARA ROBINSON, LEESA GENTZ, JULZ PARKER, ALISON PENNEY, AND SWEET FELICIA.

Kicking it all off on Thursday is MINNIE MARKS and JUZZIE SMITHMINNIE, the Bluesfest Busking Competition winner from 2011, is bringing her insanely powerful voice and dynamic guitar wizardry after too many absent years. JUZZIE is a ridiculously talented one-man band based in Byron who has amassed over 200 million views on social media.
