INTERNATIONAL CHILEAN MUSICIANS ‘HOMAGE TO PABLO NERUDA’ TOURS AUSTRALIA

Composer/pianist, Luis Saglie realised “Homage to Pablo Neruda” with celebrated Chilean oboist, Jose Luis Urquieta and will tour Australia this year including a one night concert in Melbourne on Thursday 29 September at the South Melbourne Town Hall.

The concert offers an extended repertoire for oboe-piano duo, oboe solo and piano solo incorporating literary thematic of Chilean national poet and Nobel Prize Winner, Pablo Neruda, partly in an abstract manner and partly in direct interaction with recited works of Neruda. Through the composer’s identifiable musical language, this repertoire incorporates the voice of Pablo Neruda to showcase his celebrated “Odes”.

Together, they offered its world premiere in 2013 during a concert tour in Ecuador (Quito, Cuenca and Guayaquil). In early 2014, they premiered this program in Chile. Later that year, they toured with the program in Greece (Athens, Patras and Corfu) as well as in Turkey (Istanbul). Both concert tours were sponsored by the DIRAC of the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This year, they are sponsored by the Chilean Ministry of Culture to premiere “Homage to Pablo Neruda” in China, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
