New Release: Drivin N Cryin – Crushing Flowers

Out today is the tenth studio album for long running Americana band Drivin N Cryin. Their first full-length collection of new material since 2019’s Live the Love Beautiful. The album is produced by Sadler Vaden, a longtime collaborator and touring guitarist with Jason Isbell’s 400 Unit.

The record takes a “back-to-basics” approach, focusing on a direct blend of Southern rock, folk, and punk influences that have defined the band’s sound. The lead single, “Mirror Mirror,” was released ahead of the album, addresses themes of memory and family; frontman Kevn Kinney has stated it was written in response to his mother’s experience with Alzheimer’s disease.

Recording sessions include guest appearances from Peter Buck and the late Todd Snider. The core lineup on the album features Kinney on vocals and guitar, Tim Nielsen on bass, and Dave V. Johnson on drums. Overall, Crushing Flowers presents a straightforward continuation of Drivin’ n Cryin’s established style, with an emphasis on concise songwriting and minimal production.
