New Release: Queenie & Hank – Self Titled

Step back in time and into the golden glow of Queenie & Hank, the dazzling debut album from Melbourne’s freshest duo, arriving this week. Dripping in rhinestones and soaked in ’60s charm, the record brims with smoky twang, golden harmonies, and a modern twist on the timeless magic of classic country duets.

Queenie is Eloise Thetford, one of Melbourne’s most exciting new voices, while Hank is Henry Wagons, a pioneer of Australia’s indie-country movement. Together, they conjure a sound that recalls Nancy & Lee and Dolly & Kenny, yet pushes forward with something unmistakably their own — sultry, playful, and deeply moving.

The pair first crossed paths at the 2023 APRA Awards, sparking a collaboration that quickly grew into a full-length album. Written and recorded at Wagons’ Trentwood Studio, the songs flow with an organic ease, capturing the chemistry of two voices that fit together like puzzle pieces.

Their self-titled album follows their debut single “Got What It Takes” and the follow-up “Anyhow, I Love You” a lush reimagining of Guy Clark’s deep-cut classic. Co-produced by Damian Cafarella at Ziggy Tone Studio. A harmony-soaked love letter to the past, and an irresistible new chapter for Australian country music. Think modern Nancy & Lee or Nick & Kylie — but uniquely Queenie & Hank.

Queenie & Hank’s self-titled album is out this week via MGM Distribution at all good music retailers.
