Outspoken and legendary outlaw country singer/songwriter Kinky Friedman to address National Press Club ahead of Australian Tour.

Nobody could invent a character quite like Kinky Friedman, the stogie-waving, black-hat-wearing Texas Jewboy singer, storyteller, tequila purveyor, animal rescuer and full-time iconoclast. Though renowned for penning some of outlaw country’s most outrageous songs, authoring bestsellers and running for governor of Texas, his 45-year career includes touring with Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue; recording with Eric Clapton, most of The Band and Ringo Starr; appearing on Saturday Night Live and at the Grand Ole Opry; and writing one of Nelson Mandela’s favourite songs. He also became the protagonist of his own crime novels, because even he couldn’t invent a character that could out-kink Kinky Friedman.

This coming Wednesday Friedman will address the National Press Club. Titled ‘The Navigator’, his speech will give a unique insight into the man who attracted 12.6% of the votes as independent candidate in the 2006 election for the office of Governor of Texas.

Kinky Friedman’s National Press Club takes place this Wednesday 05 October 2016 @ 12:30pm and will be televised live nationally on the ABC with repeats airing Friday 7 Oct 2016, 2:05am and Saturday 8 Oct 2016, 11:01pm.
