COMMONER are very excited to announce Pony Face Nebraska: Live at the Bakehouse their very first self-produced project – over a year in the making and a serious passion project for all involved. For COMMONER, the opportunity to team up with Melbourne’s Pony Face to produce a cinematic version of the band’s live performance of Bruce Springsteen’s seminal late night album could not have come at a more opportune time…
Lightning struck, as it sure tends to, late one evening in December 2014 on 3RRR when (COMMONER director) Aaron Cuthbert heard Pony Face’s brilliant reworking of Atlantic City (from their heralded 2014 double LP Pony Face presents Nebraska – co-released by Cobra Snake Necktie Records/ Love & Theft Recording Co), prompting him to immediately contacted the band and pitch an idea to them: to capture the raw essence of the band’s performance in a totally immersive environment that plunges the observer directly into the stories and characters as they journey through the album.
Conceptually, Bakehouse Studios was the perfect choice for the setting of the film, as the legendary Melbourne music institution (and in particular the scrap museum room) provided the perfect audio/visual backdrop for this performance – one that creates a fully immersive experience for the observing audience.
Friday, May 20th will see the official launch of the film, a limitied Video-On-Demand download – available at https://www.ponyfacenebraskafilm.com for only a $7.99 (1500 only!) or as a 48-hour rental for $1.99. Launch celebrations will be punctuated by a live full-cast performance of Pony Face presents Nebraska at the Caravan Club in Oakleigh, of which attendees will recieve exclusive discounted access to the video on demand service.
