Wallflowers First Australian Tour To Celebrate Two Classics: Band’s Second Album and Tom Petty & Heartbreakers

Monday, August 24, 2026 – Love Police have announced the airst ever Australian tour by The Wallflowers, who will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Burning Down The House and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers album Long After Dark in full.

Originally released on May 21, 1996, Bringing Down the Horse peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 and was certified quadruple platinum in the US. In Australia, the album was certified Gold and reached number 9 on the ARIA charts, success that cemented the group’s place as one of the defining rock acts of the era.The album produced four hit singles: ‘One Headlight’, which reached #1 on the Billboard singles chart, won two Grammy Awards in 1998, and was ranked #58 on Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Pop Songs,” along with other key singles ‘6th Avenue Heartache’, ‘The Difference’, and ‘Three Marlenas’.

The tour also pays tribute to Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers’1982 record Long After Dark, which will be performed in its entirety alongsideBringing Down theHorse, an album and a band that were a formative influence on Dylan.

Jakob Dylan, The Wallflowers’ chief songwriter and son of legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, remains a vital performer in American rock music across three decades of work. In 2002 he inducted Tom Petty into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2018 he starred in the critically acclaimed documentary Echo In The Canyon, collaborating with artists including Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Beck, Cat Power, Norah Jones and Regina Spektor.

Dylan has also contributed songs to film and television, including The Wallflowers’ cover of ‘Heroes’ for the 1998 Godzilla soundtrack, ‘Arms of a Ghost’ for NCIS: Los Angeles, and ‘Nothing But the Whole Wide World’ for Friday Night Lights. In 2025, The Wallflowers supported Eric Clapton on his U.S. tour, having previously toured in support of Clapton, The Who and The Rolling Stones.
