Sometimes you just need a nice slap in the face, and thankfully the Dave Orr Band is here to help with their latest single ‘Got To Know’; a thumping, burning, foot to floor slice of irresistible bluesy rock joy.
The track is the latest taste of Dave’s new album (due later this year) and follows first single ‘Champagne’ that was release late 2016 and spent weeks near the top of the national AMRAP radio play charts.
“Lyrically, ‘Got To Know’ is a short urgent snap shot into the car ride of man in the throws of heartbreak and jealousy,” said Brisbane guitar legend and lead, Dave Orr.
“After hearing second hand about what his lady has been up to behind his back, he needs to find her himself, to seek the truth face to face.”
This stompin’ slide track was whole lot of fun to record, I remember we had a dialled Fender Tonemaster firing down a staircase, and it was loud!”

While Dave is known as one of the country’s premier blues players, the new song shows he certainly ain’t no one trick pony.
The new tunes have been recorded with a stellar line up of players including Mark Henman on drums (Afro Dizi Act, Bernard Fanning, Numbers Radio), Chris Pearson on bass (Washington, Jimmy Barnes), and local Hammond organ whiz Lachy Doley.
That he has pulled together such an impressive line up is testament to the respect Dave has earned over the years as an exceptional songwriter and performer.
Rewind a few years and Dave was cutting his teeth performing with the kind of all out fusion acts Brisbane seems so good at producing – rock, pop, ska, funk it was all in there.
His breakthrough came with power pop trio Numbers Radio – a band that scored national airplay through Triple J with a number of high rotation singles and a growing live following drawn to the bands ability to pen smart pop tunes and play them live like nothing else.
