Bob Dylan’s performance of his songs on Alma Har’el’s 2021 film Shadow Kingdom: The Early Songs of Bob Dylan, will be released on audio formats for the first time next week on June 2.
The recording personnel included Bob Dylan (vocals, harmonica), Greg Leisz on guitar, pedal steel guitar, mandolin, T-Bone Burnett on guitar along with Don Was on upright bass. The film cast featured a different group of musicians.
Songs from across Dylan’s career were featured including ‘Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I’ll Go Mine)’, ‘Tombstone Blues’, ‘Forever Young’, ‘It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue’, ‘When I Paint My Masterpiece’ ‘Queen Jane Approximately’ and ‘The Wicked Messenger’. There are 13 original songs plus the closing instrumental, ‘Sierra’s Theme’.
The album will be issued on CD and as a 2LP black vinyl edition (side four is etched) and the full-length Shadow Kingdom film will also be available via Apple TV.
A recording of ‘Watching the River Flow’ off the upcoming live record has also been released. Dylan’s performance of the song in 2021 marked the first time in seven years that Dylan played the 1971 single live. You can watch it here: Watching The River Flow

Shadow Kingdom originally aired as an exclusive streaming event in July 2021 and will now be available on vinyl, CD and streaming platforms for the first time.
The full-length Shadow Kingdom feature film will also be available for download and rental on Tuesday, June 6.
