Bernard Fanning Marks 20 Years of Tea & Sympathy with Special Reissue and Anniversary Show

Bernard Fanning has announced a 20th-anniversary reissue of his acclaimed debut solo album Tea & Sympathy, originally released on 31 October 2005. The reissue will feature the original album alongside a companion record of outtakes, new songs, and covers including of “Songbird” by Jem & Troy Cassar-Daley and “Believe” by The Paper Kites.

Fanning reflected on the record’s origins, recalling it as “an album of heartbreakers” born from personal upheaval, a new home studio, and a break from Powderfinger. “It was a giant surprise to me that it connected so deeply with so many people,” he said.

To mark the milestone, Fanning will reunite with most of the original band and special guests for an anniversary concert at Brisbane’s QPAC on 31 October — exactly 20 years since the album’s release and his original performance at the same venue.

The event will also spotlight Youngcare, the charity Fanning has supported since its inception in 2005. Proceeds will help raise awareness and funds for young people with high-care needs.

The reissue is available for pre-order in a number of bundles from Bernard’s online store. For ticket and event information visit the QPAC event page.
