Cat Canteri is hitting the road with her new album!

Mountain King Music is proud to announce Cat Canteri’s third record Inner North will be released on Friday 18th May 2018 through MGM Distribution. National tour dates have been announced to coincide with the album release.

Inner North has its roots firmly planted in the neighbourhood that Cat calls home – the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne. Famed for its immigrant culture, cafés and thriving music scene, her family ties to this area go back to before 1900.

Cat feels a deep sense of connection to the people, places, spaces she grew up in, and the songs on Inner North play out as if the listener is riding a tram down High Street, contemplating stories untold within each building. From stop to stop they can feel the rocky ride of musical relationships between the disparate songs (Out Of My League, How Crazy I’ve Been, Take Me Away, Make Up Your Mind); a young skateboarder seeks out a missing friend beneath the shadows of the high-rise commission flats on Brunswick St (Fitzroy Bowl); futile parental warnings are given to children as they play on the street (Pentridge Wasteland); and searching further back in time, the paddocks of Preston in the 1850s where the struggles of domestic abuse in a young family become insurmountable (Bridget Agnew).

Backed by long time musical collaborators Justin Bernasconi (guitar), Ben Franz (bass) and Justin Olsson (drums), Canteri and producer Jeff Lang turn her songs into miniature but epic soundscapes supporting her smoky alto voice and vivid storytelling. Her accomplished guitar playing references the slide playing of Bonnie Raitt and the robust rhythm of Keith Richards.

Inner North was recorded and mixed by Jeff Lang and mastered by Adam Dempsey, and is available online and in all good music stores.
