The life and music of Chris Wilson, one of Australia’s most revered and successful blues musicians, will be celebrated in a special benefit concert at The Corner Hotel in Melbourne on Friday August 24.
The singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, who also has the distinction of having one of the biggest selling blues album in Australian music history (Wilson-Diesel’s Short Cool Ones), was recently diagnosed with cancer. Local musicians have rushed to his assistance.
The benefit concert will be hosted by Cherry Bar’s James Young and will feature performances by Barb Waters, Barry Palmer, Steve Lucas, Finn Wilson, Kerri Simpson, Ash Davies, DJ Max Crawdaddy. Many more special guests will be announced in coming weeks.
Wilson is not well enough to attend the show himself; however, the benefit concert will offer financial support for him and his family.
Tickets are available from The Corner.
