“I Wasn’t Thinking At All” is the lead single off the upcoming album by Melbourne four piece, Cold Irons Bound. It’s a hook heavy instant classic that both laments and celebrates putting your brain on autopilot, while effortlessly straddling rock and Americana in the process. It’s out now on Golden Robot Records.
The band says about the new single: “’I Wasn’t Thinking At All’ is a walking, talking contradiction that’s simultaneously angry and accepting of a situation of one’s own making. But it’s ok to be conflicted in a rock and roll song in our book. Perhaps mandatory even? Let it get under yer skin regardless… ‘There must be a reason for thinking like that? Nah, I wasn’t thinkin’ at all’.”
Cold Irons Bound is a Melbourne four-piece who recall the tuneful distortion of the last 50 years. Think Tom Petty jamming with Teenage Fanclub…. The band’s forthcoming record, No Place I Can’t Find You, shines a profound light on one of Australia’s most melodic bands.
Cold Irons Bound have continued to sharpen their tools, dragging more of the record making process inside the tent and generally hardening their skins in a landscape that at times seems less focused on songcraft than it once was.
Because chasing songs still has CIB as wide eyed as ever and they’ve come to learn that the hunt can be as beguiling as the catch. Some tunes are hard fought and won whilst others appear as gifts and you don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
No Place I Can’t Find You is claimed to be the sound of a band endowed with the savvy tunefulness of Americana and the soul of a scruffy rock n roll bar band.
