First Artists Announced for WOMADelaide 2024

WOMADelaide has today announced the first 28 artists for the 2024 festival, from 8 to 11 March – featuring Ziggy Marley (Jamaica), The Budos Band (USA), Arooj Aftab(USA/Pakistan), Gilberto Gil (Brazil) and DakhaBrakha (Ukraine).

‘With WOMADelaide entering its fourth decade, we are thrilled and honoured to have the festival stages graced by luminaries such as Ziggy Marley, Gilberto Gil, Baaba Maal and Elizabeth Streb, who share the qualities throughout their extraordinary careers of breaking boundaries and creating work which celebrates the creativity, excellence and inclusiveness central to the arts,’ says Ian Scobie, WOMADelaide Director.

Since 1992, the iconic annual festival – World of Music, Arts, and Dance – held in Adelaide’s Botanic Park/Tainmuntilla, has forged a reputation for bringing together a diverse array of virtuosos and rising stars, which continues in 2024, with artists from 25 countries set to join the recently-announced British jazz wunderkind Yussef Dayes and Swedish folk hero José González. For his first time in Australia since 2012, reggae singer, songwriter, producer, author, humanitarian and visionary Ziggy Marley is set to grace WOMADelaide’s stage for the very first time.

WOMADelaide returns to Adelaide’s Botanic Park/Tainmuntilla, for four days of music, arts, and dance, from 8-11 March 2024.
