Americana folk band Great Aunt have released their second single ahead of their upcoming self-titled EP.
Having come from punk hardcore and jazz backgrounds, the duos sound is a new venture into the world of Americana.
The announcement elaborated on this change, and where the sound comes from:
“Comprised of former punk/hardcore guitarist Megan Bird and jazz drummer Chelsea Allen, Great Aunt represents a significant departure from the members’ previous musical projects in its roots and gospel-inspired sound.
Great Aunt first performed in mid-2016 at the renowned Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee, as part of an extended songwriting sojourn. Much of the duo’s current material was written and refined during travels through the south of the United States, and first performed in Melbourne in late 2016.”
The duo released their first single ‘Tell Me When It’s Over’ earlier this year, and have followed up with their second single ‘My Last Dime’.
The duos self titled EP is due out this September and they’ll be touring this Spring.
