The rock/country fusion masters Halfway are celebrating the success of their critically acclaimed album The Golden Halfway Record and the release of their new single “Three In And Nothing But The Stars” by gifting us with a transcendent film clip and an exclusive home town show.
As well as having a distinctly Queensland sound about it the film clip for “Three In And Nothing But The Stars” intrigues in its efforts to project the sunshine state in its past and present.
“The film clip was shot for us by our good friend Mick Borkowski. It was mostly filmed at our rehearsal room in Enoggera, Brisbane. We supplemented this footage with some super 8 footage of band member John Willsteed & his friends in the late 70’s having a picnic in New Farm Park. It’s a song about dreaming big. With a little bit of park drinking thrown in, which seems to suit. …” says vocalist John Busby.
“Three In And Nothing But The Stars” showcases Halfway’s refined Country-Rock Americana sound and is a true reflection of a band that have released five albums and spent over a decade writing music together. Full of rich production and layered instruments, the lyrics are ripe with nostalgia and glimmers of adolescence.
Glowing reviews for The Golden Halfway Record have been flooding in since its release in April and its success has been solidified with a nomination for Triffid Album of The Year. To show their gratification for the highly respected nod Halfway has announced their first annual Longplayer Session at the Triffid. The boys will be playing their first and latest albums in their entirety to give back to the fans that have supported them for over a decade.
So, not only have the fine gentlemen in Halfway released an award nominated album and a nostalgically stunning single with accompanying film clip but they’re also bringing all that gloriousness back to home soil to share their success with the people that love them most. If that was just in the last 12 months then Halfway has a lot to look forward to come the new year.
