Renowned singer-songwriters Marcia Howard and Damian Howard, siblings and stalwarts of the Australian music scene, are excited to unveil their brand-new musical collaboration: Homemade Jam.
Marcia, celebrated for her work with the iconic Goanna Band and her award-winning international solo career, joins forces with Damian known for his band The Ploughboys and his dynamic songwriting and performance pedigree, to offer audiences an intimate, powerful live experience. Audiences can expect a stirring mix of new original material and reimagined classics that speak to the times and touch the soul. “We’re excited to bring Homemade Jam to audiences around the country,” said Marcia. “It’s about sharing stories, celebrating connection, and making music that feels like home.”
With rich harmonies, heartfelt songwriting, and a sound that bridges folk, country, soul and roots, Homemade Jam is a return to their roots – both musically and personally. Making it even more of a family affair, the line-up includes Marcia’s son Liam Gubbins on bass guitar and vocals, together with Michael Davis on drums and Jason King on lead guitat. Drawing on their shared musical history and decades of live performance experience, Marcia & Damian blend stories of love, loss, hope, and healing into something truly special and deeply Australian.
Homemade Jam’s first shows are set for Geelong and St Kilda this month. Marcia, who grew up in Warrnambool, has close ties to both towns. Not only does she call Geelong home these days, but it’s where Goanna got it together in the late ’70s, rehearsing in the historic bluestone cellar of the Paper Mills. And St Kilda is where Goanna lived in the glory days of the early 80s, in the legendary Goanna Manor.
