John Prine has been forced to cancel his scheduled appearance at Bluesfest and his other Australian concert dates this April on the advice of his doctors regarding an existing hip injury. Prine had announced cancellation of concerts in the UK just the other day.
A statement from Bluesfest stated: “With great regret and disappointment, we wish to advise that John Prine has been forced to cancel his upcoming Bluesfest performance this Easter – following the advice of his doctors regarding an existing hip injury. John is appreciative of his loyal fans and friends all over the world and looks forward to returning to Australia at a future date. We sincerely apologise to fans affected by this cancellation and wish John a speedy recovery.”
The festival is yet to announce a replacement for Prine.
It is not known whether Prine will be appearing at MerleFest in North Carolina where he is scheduled to appear in late April. Prine is also scheduled to headline his All The Best festival in the Dominican Republic in mid-November.
