City Recital Hall presents one of this year’s most enchanting musical collaborations when acclaimed performer Kate Ceberano and ARIA and Helpmann Award-winner Paul Grabowsky bring their sold out concert Love Songs to Sydney for the first time on Saturday 22 October.
Love Songs is the perfect pairing of Ceberano’s versatile voice and Grabowsky’s masterful piano playing. Together, the duo performs faithful reinterpretations of some of the greatest love songs of the past 50 years, with a repertoire that shifts seamlessly between pop and jazz to chanson and soul.
Love Songs is a very personal journey into words and music by two icons of Australian music. The songs were selected for their ability to connect on a deep emotional level and, more importantly, because they have influenced both artists at some point in their lives. The effect on Sydney audiences promises to be equally moving.
An award-winning singer and songwriter, Ceberano has recorded 24 albums, won countless awards, and made numerous TV appearances and festival highlight performances. A much-loved and highly respected veteran of the Australian music industry, Ceberano is often seen as a cultural diplomat and a role model for emerging artists.
Likewise, Grabowsky’s contribution to Australian music is vast and deep, and his influence underscores generations with his wise, wonderful and whimsical way of approaching music making.
Ceberano and Grabowsky have not worked this closely since their legendary heyday together in Melbourne in the late 1990s, making this a special reunion that showcases both artists’ extraordinary skill and their combined musical chemistry.
