Lost Ragas release the new 7″ single, ‘Where James Once Played/ I’ll Be Gone’ in tribute to the late, great James Cruickshank

Since the release of their second LP ‘Trans Atlantic Highway, Lost Ragas have been described as ‘Cosmic Country’ and it is true, they are quite at home exploring the more psychedelic realms of country music. You will hear songs of murder and alienation. Songs of a love that was never known and other songs of love that was a euphoric nirvana. Songs of friendship and even a song about a stunt motorcycle legend. Songs from a real place that have been fashioned into something poetic and powerful.
Each member of the band offers a wealth of experience, and a taste for a song. This bend toward the song’s best interest may sound like a simple desire, but it’s not as common as you might think. Lost Ragas are made up of Matt Walker, Shane Reilly, Roger Bergodaz and Simon Burke.
‘Where James Once Played’ was written on the day friend and musician, James Cruickshank passed away and it’s a tribute to the late, great guitarist, his distinctive style and his contribution to the Australian music scene in bands such as The Cruel Sea and The Blackeyed Susans. Flip it over to find the B side, a cover of ‘I’ll Be Gone’ and a tip of the hat to another great Australian musical act, Spectrum. This iconic hit from 1971 is reimagined by Ragas in their own spectacular style and special guest, Spectrum singer/songwriter Mike Rudd, brings his signature harp sound and vocals to the track.
