More than meets the eye at Mullum Music Festival

Next week the little NSW North Coast town of Mullumbimby throws open its doors for the 9th annual Mullum Music Festival. From 17-20 November Olympia, Lior, Tash Sultana, Julia Jacklin, Gareth Liddiard and over 80 acts will perform in intimate venues throughout the town including four halls, the high school, numerous cafes, the RSL and the Bowlo! If you want to get up close to your favourite acts this is festival to do it.

It isn’t just a cracking line-up that makes Mullum Music Festival special – this is a whole town experience where the entire community comes out to play.

“Its more of a social experiment than a music festival,” says Director Glenn Wright “It’s a genuine meeting of artists and community. This isn’t a gated festival, the whole town is involved. The Mullum team are all locals, we have families here, and we put a lot of effort into creating a friendly experience that people of all ages and interests can enjoy.”

When not enveloped in the different worlds of each venue, you can roam the busker dotted streets, take a free ride around town on the psychedelic Magic Bus, sit under the trees eating delicious food from an array of stalls and be entertained by Spaghetti Circus, Roundabout Theatre and a host of other free street performances. There’s a huge range of workshops as well as a farmers market, the monthly Mullumbimby market, a beautiful local pool situated between two of the main venues and a myriad cafes and shops to explore throughout the town.
