Melbourne International Jazz Festival returns from 20—29 October with a line-up of more than 100 events and performances featuring over 450 global and Australian artists.
In an exclusive event, witness the iconic ten-time GRAMMY-winning Chaka Khan grace the Sidney Myer Music Bowl stage as she celebrates 50 years of music. Also on this epic 6-hour ‘Jazz at the Bowl’ line-up are funk and disco all-stars Nile Rodgers & CHIC, with local legends Kaiit and Horns of Leroy.
The program includes an extensive array of free community programming, with the festival kicking with an authentic taste of New Orleans in Melbourne as the Hot 8 Brass Band (US) lead a Second Line Parade through the the heart of the city—beginning at Southbank and culminating in a party at Fed Square.
Other highlights include founding father of highlife and Afrobeat, Ghanaian guitarist Ebo Taylor in a special collaboration with The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra, trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, Dutch saxophonist Marike van Dijk, Chicago trumpeter Marquis Hill, and an album premiere from the Vanessa Perica Orchestra.
