Melbourne singer-songwriter Michael Waugh paints vivid, joyous, funny and loving pictures of growing up queer in rural Australia on his new album ‘Beauty & Truth’ – releasing June 21st.
The title track is released today as the album’s latest single and is one that took Waugh some time to finish.“At the time that I was working on it, I wasn’t able to complete it because I wasn’t ready to be completely honest with myself or the world”, says Waugh. “I was holding on to a version of myself that I thought that I needed to be. It was a like a suit that didn’t fit me, and I swam around in someone else’s clothes. This is about the pain of having to be honest with someone that you love. It’s also about letting someone go with love. I don’t want to hold on to any bitterness about who I was. Nor do I want to make excuses for the mistakes that I’ve made. This is just about trying to put out into the world a message of love and healing, and hope for beauty and truth”.
To launch ‘Beauty & Truth’, Michael will embark on a string of capital city album launches as well as one on his home turf of Gippsland, Victoria.
