As Bluesfest, gears up for its milestone 35th anniversary, so comes its third artist announcement. Having already named headliners for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, this artist announcement focuses on Thursday, the festival’opening night with American Rock band Portugal. The Man announced as Thursday night headliner.
Also performing Thursday will be independent Australian artists Ziggy Alberts, jazz, funk fusion collective Snarky Puppy and Jazz, soul,neo-soul, jazz multi-instrumentalist Meshell Ndegeocello. Meanwhile, Gospel music institution Blind Boys of Alabama will be returning for their ninth performance at Bluesfest.
Also worth catching will be The Turner Brown Band, known for ‘Sacred Steel’, they are among the few bands touring this style of music. To catch Sacred Steel, you would normally have to participate in a church service in the deep south of the USA.
