Following its recent partnership coup with Surfers Paradise Alliance, the 2017 Gold Coast Music Awards (GCMA) has officially opened nominations, including seven categories that will shine a spotlight on the local music scene and reward its exceptional talent.
In just its third year, the Awards are set to soar from 350 to some 3,000 attendees with a new home at Surfers Paradise beach on Thursday, April 27, right before the Surfers Paradise LIVE music festival kicks off with headline act, Australian and international pop sensations, The Veronicas.
As well as a new home, the Awards also launch a new category – Album of the Year – and additions to the high calibre of judges, including Woodford Folk Festival program director, Chloe Goodyear and Australian Music Week director, Ryan Van Gennip.
The 2017 Gold Coast Music Awards has seven categories in total:
- Artist of the Year
- Breakout Artist of the Year (formerly Emerging Artist), sponsored by Griffith University Queensland Conservatorium
- Song of the Year, sponsored by NightQuarter
- Video of the Year, sponsored by QT Hotel
- Album of the Year, sponsored by ALH
- Live Music Venue of the Year
