Tegan and Sara: First Artists To Be Announced For Mardi Gras Party

Indie pop sensations Tegan and Sara are set to make a grand debut at Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras. Today they’re confirmed as the first of a stellar line-up of special guests artists for the 2017 Party, held directly after the Mardi Gras Parade on Saturday 4 March, 2017.

The Canadian identical twin sisters have been favourites in LGBTQI venues since they formed in 1995, but have exploded into the mainstream with their last two records; 2013’s Heartthrob and their most recent release, Love You to Death, including the singles “Boyfriend” and “Stop Desire”, produced by Greg Kurstin who has produced some of the world’s biggest names including Sia, Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Ellie Goulding to name a few.

With a new focus aimed directly at the pop market, the vocal powerhouse duo have reenergized their already dedicated fan base, taking their unique vocals and powerful lyrics to club dancefloors across the globe. Now the out lesbian musicians and advocates for LGBTQI rights make their way to Sydney for the world famous Mardi Gras Party.

The Official Mardi Gras Party is the hottest ticket of the year, every year. A glittery celebration, The Party is the largest LGBTQI party in the Southern Hemisphere and has featured the biggest and best international and local acts including, Calvin Harris, Frankie Knuckles, Carl Cox, Kylie AND Dannii Minogue, Freemasons and more.
