Rhythms favorite Van Walker’s new group Hexham Heads debut single ‘Say It Again’ is available today via streaming.
Taking their name from a pair of small stone heads discovered in Hexham UK in the early 70s and associated with paranormal activity, Van explains “I’m a big nerd for werewolf stories and all this stuff”, Hexham Heads was born.
Van explains the new group picks up from the ashes of his much beloved early band The Livingston Dasies, “I had songs that I would have put out as the next Livington Dasies record, but as the Daisies broke up these songs stayed there”.
The four-piece is something of a Melbourne supergroup with Van Walker joined by Mic Hubbard (Spencer P. Jones/Ella Hooper/Downhills Home) on guitar, Brett ‘Wolfie’ Wolfenden (The Pictures/The Casanovas/Wolfmother) on drums and George Carroll Wilson (Pollyman/Bones and Jones) on bass guitar.
The sound is very much old school guitar rock – think Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers with a dash of Cheap Trick.
