Love Police Records & Tapes have announced the September release of I’d Rather Be Listening To Sweet Talk, the 2022 debut EP of alt-country six-piece Sweet Talk on vinyl for the very first time.
Hailing from Victoria’s deep south aka Melbourne and forming in 2021, Sweet Talk are disciples of good time music with inspiration from Southern, blues, country, gospel, soul and rock. Since releasing I’d Rather Be Listening To Sweet Talk through streaming platforms in 2022, the band have shared the stage with Kasey Chambers, collaborated with Robert Ellis, supported Texan superstar Charley Crockett on his 2024 Australian tour, and performed across the country at Out On The Weekend, Groundwater Country Music Festival, Gympie Muster, Riverboats, Port Fairy Folk Festival, and Queenscliff Music Festival.
During the course of some of these shows, Sweet Talk’s joyful live performance alongside their strong soulful vintage sound caught the ears of Love Police Records & Tapes who suggested a vinyl offering release of this noteworthy EP. “The band has a great, vintage, full and colourful sound that we love at Love Police. They are good people too, so we thought why not help their fans enjoy these tunes the right way. We’d rather they listen to Sweet Talk that a lot of other music out there!” says BT of Love Police.
To coincide with their debut EP vinyl release, Sweet Talk have also announced a couple of September shows:
THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 19 – PETERSHAM BOWLING CLUB, SYDNEY with Lady Lyon
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 20 – LEADBEATER HOTEL, MELBOURNE with Eils & The Drip
