Xylouris White (the rarefied duo of Dirty Three drummer Jim White and Cretan lute player George Xylouris) return to Australia this summer for headline shows in Sydney & Melbourne and festival appearances at Woodford and Womadelaide.
The tour follows the release of Black Peak the second long playing offering from Xylouris White and a dynamic follow up to their 2014 debut and Billboard World Music #1 album, Goats.
One of Crete’s best-loved artists, Xylouris is a scion of Greek musical royalty, a family from a mountain village near the Cave of Zeus, while Jim White has commanded international attention for more than two decades as part of Dirty Three. Now New York-based, he also formed post-punk band Venom P Stinger and has worked with artists such as Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, PJ Harvey, Nina Nastasia, Cat Power and Smog. Together they perform a mosaic of musics that incorporates free jazz, post-punk, world and ethnic musics; together and individually they are unique.
Don’t miss the power and glory of Xylouris White live this summer.
